INTRODUCING TEMPLE'S STAFF
Coach Mike Gardiner
60 years old
My interest in boxing goes back to my childhood - I remember watching boxing on “Wide World of Sports” with my dad on Saturday afternoons and thinking to myself that I would like to learn to box. I didn’t really get into boxing though, until I hit 50, when I joined a health club that had a boxing program. I started out in a “Boxing for Fitness” class where I learned the boxing basics along with the importance of conditioning, (losing 45 lbs. in the process!) and gradually progressed through “Beginning Boxing” to “Advanced Boxing” where I was able to apply what I’d learned in a real-time environment by sparring. I came to Temple Boxing in April of 2015 where, with the help of the excellent coaching staff, I’ve been perfecting my "craft" with the goal of boxing in a Master’s Boxing Tournament in 2016. Since then, I've had a total of 4 amatuer fights, receiving a belt and numerous awards.
I’m proud to be a member of the Temple Boxing family and I’m looking forward to working with the coaches and the members to make Temple Boxing the “go to” boxing gym in the area.
